Media policy

The authorization you need to process media and voices, the content and uses we prohibit, and how removal and reporting work.

Draft v0.2, last updated September 4, 2026, pending legal review

1. Why this policy exists

TapToClip processes the video you provide and turns it into clips. This policy sets out what you may submit, what we refuse, and what happens when it is breached. It is part of the Terms of service, and every account holder agrees to it.

2. Authorization to process media and voices

You may upload, import through a link, process, or export media only if you own it or have the permission of everyone who holds rights in it: the producer or platform that owns the recording, the authors of any music or footage it contains, and the people whose voice or likeness appears in it. A video being public on a platform does not mean you may reuse it.

Every import asks you to confirm that you have this authorization for the source and for the clips you will export. That confirmation is recorded with the project. If you are unsure, do not import the media.

TapToClip claims no rights to your media. The licence you grant us in the Terms exists only so that we can process it for you.

3. Prohibited content and uses

You may not use TapToClip to process, store, or export:

  • media that infringes the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights of third parties;
  • illegal content, including material that sexually exploits minors, promotes terrorism or violence, or is otherwise unlawful where you or we are located;
  • intimate or private recordings of people without their consent, or content used to harass, threaten, or dehumanize people;
  • deceptive material, such as edits presented as authentic recordings of something that did not happen, impersonation, or content designed to defraud;
  • malware or files intended to disrupt the Service or its providers.

Clipping alone does not make content misleading. Removing context in a way that changes what a person appears to say or do, and presenting the result as genuine, does.

4. Platform and provider restrictions

You may not use TapToClip to bypass the restrictions of the platforms you import from or of the providers we rely on. That includes private, unlisted, age, region, subscriber, or paywall restrictions, technical protection measures, and rate limits. We do not process live streams while they are in progress, and we may refuse sources that are unavailable, restricted, or too long.

The terms of the platform you import from continue to apply to you. Where a platform forbids downloading or reuse of content, obtain permission from the rights holder rather than using TapToClip to work around the rule.

5. Removal and reporting

If you believe media processed through TapToClip infringes your rights or breaches this policy, email contact@taptoclip.io with a description of the work or right concerned, enough information to identify the content in TapToClip, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized.

We review reports promptly. Where a report is valid we may remove content, block processing or export, and inform the account holder, who may respond. Because media is private and expires 30 days after processing, many reports concern clips that have already been published elsewhere; removal from TapToClip does not remove copies posted on other platforms.

6. Consequences and changes

Breaches of this policy can lead to removal of content, refusal of new imports, and suspension or termination of the account, without refund where the breach is serious. Repeat infringers lose their account. We may also preserve and share information with authorities where the law requires it.

We may update this policy as the Service and the law evolve. The current version is always published here with its date.
