Terms of service

The rules for using TapToClip: accounts, subscriptions and quota, permitted and prohibited use, ownership, availability limits, and termination.

Draft v0.2, last updated September 4, 2026, pending legal review

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of TapToClip, the web service that turns long videos into short vertical clips (the Service). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms, to the Privacy policy, and to the Media policy, which together form the agreement between you and us.

The legal entity that operates TapToClip, its registered address, the governing law, and the competent courts will be completed before this draft becomes final. If you do not agree with these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Your account

You need an account to use the Service. You can sign up with an email address and password or with a Google account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and the information you give us must be accurate and kept up to date.

Accounts are personal. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts that were created with false information, that are used by someone other than the holder, or that put the Service or other users at risk.

3. Subscriptions, trial, and quota

The Service is metered in source video time: the duration of the videos you submit for processing, not the number of clips produced. Every account starts with a trial that includes a fixed amount of source time for a limited period and adds a watermark to exports. Trial limits are set by us and shown in the app.

Paid plans are billed in advance by subscription through our payment provider, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for. Unless the law where you live requires otherwise, we do not refund partial periods.

Included source time resets at the start of each billing period and does not carry over. When the included time is used, new processing stops until the next period or until you change plan. We never charge overage automatically. Prices, included time, and plan features are shown on the pricing page and may change; changes apply from your next billing period, and we announce material changes in advance. Applicable taxes are shown at checkout.

If a payment fails we notify you and retry it. If it keeps failing we may suspend or end the subscription, after which the account returns to trial limits.

4. Permitted use

You may use the Service to process videos that you own or are authorized to use, and to download the resulting clips for your own publishing. The clips you export are yours, subject to the rights of the people who appear in or contributed to the source.

The Service is offered for its intended purpose: creating short clips from long-form video through the interface we provide. You may not resell processing capacity, use the Service to build a competing product, or access it through automated means other than the features we expose. No public API is offered at this time.

5. Your media and third-party providers

You keep all rights to the media you submit and to the clips you export. You grant us a limited licence to store, transcode, transcribe, analyse, and render your media, and to share the necessary parts with our processing providers, solely to provide the Service to you and only for as long as the media is retained.

We rely on third-party providers for hosting, storage, transcription, AI analysis, payment, email, and analytics. They process data only as needed to deliver the Service and are described in the Privacy policy. We do not control the platforms you import from: a link that becomes private, removed, restricted, or rate limited cannot be processed, and we are not responsible for such changes.

Transcripts, scores, rationales, reframing, and subtitles are produced automatically. They can contain mistakes, and you are responsible for reviewing every clip before you publish it.

6. Acceptable use

The Media policy describes the content and uses we prohibit. In addition, you agree not to:

  • upload, import, or process media that you are not authorized to use, including the voices and likenesses of the people who appear in it;
  • bypass access controls of the platforms you import from, such as private, age, region, or paywall restrictions, or the safeguards of our providers;
  • remove or hide the trial watermark, bypass quota, or manipulate the editor or requests to obtain features your plan does not include;
  • probe, overload, scrape, or interfere with the Service, or attempt to access accounts, projects, or media that are not yours;
  • use the Service for unlawful, deceptive, or abusive purposes.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its interface, software, subtitle presets, scoring logic, and documentation, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service and transfer nothing else. The TapToClip name and mark may not be used without our written permission.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

8. Availability, warranties, and liability

The Service is provided as is and as available. We work to keep it running well, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability, specific processing times, or the accuracy of transcripts, scores, reframing, or subtitles, and we make no promise about how a clip will perform once published. Processing depends on providers and platforms we do not control.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost content, and our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Keep your own copies of source media and exported clips. Media is deleted on the schedule described in the Privacy policy, and the Service is not a backup or archive.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion cancels any subscription, revokes access, queues the deletion of your projects and media, and keeps billing records where the law requires it.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or the Media policy, if your use creates legal or security risk, or if we are required to by law. Where reasonable we warn you first. No refund is due for a termination caused by a breach.

Sections about intellectual property, liability, and any payment you still owe survive termination.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. The current version is always published here with its date. For material changes we notify account holders before the new terms take effect; continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept them.

Questions about these terms go to contact@taptoclip.io.
